I'm from East L.A.

Yes, East L.A....East Lower Alabama, and boiled peanuts were on my seasonal menu for years. Now I work in the Oil Field in Texas, and they don't seem to know what the heck I'm talking about. Found a fruit and vegetable farm outside of Houston that had raw peanuts from Virginia. Now those ain't Bama Nuts, but they will do, and thanks to your instructions, they are back on the menu. Thanks a lot.

Try Valencia Peanuts from New Mexico & Texas
by: Bret

James,
Glad you found some raw peanuts to boil in Texas. I've found that the Valencia Peanuts from eastern New Mexico and west Texas are great for boiling. The region around Portales, New Mexico grows about 80% of the USA's Valencia peanuts.

Green Peanuts in Texas
by: Scott Bell

I grew up in Dale County Alabama, so I've been acquainted with the "Fruit of the Gods" my whole life. I've lived for 10 years in Houston and have yet to find green peanuts here. I have to drive to Lafayette or Baton Rouge to get them.

I did last week, and boiled and froze about 30 quarts, so I'm good for a couple of months.

Where did you find green peanuts in the Houston area?
Thanks.

Desperately seeking peanuts
by: Brent from Beaumont

I am originally from Kentwood, Louisiana, and now living in Beaumont, Texas. I brought some peanuts back from Mississippi when visiting family, but not nearly enough and they are long gone. Don't want to have to drive quite that far, but I really want some peanuts!

Where in Lafayette or Baton Rouge do you find yours? Short drive in comparison!

Boiled Peanuts in Texas
by: Charles Hankins

I live in Houston but originate from South Georgia where I grew up eating boiled peanuts. I have been in Texas for the past seven years and have never found anyone who sells boiled peanuts, other than Peanut Patch. I am looking to go into the boiled peanut distribution throughout Texas. I have tested the market and a high majority of people loved them. Of course, they have to be cooked correctly. Most Texans who have tried boiled peanuts did so when traveling through the South. Those roadside peanuts having been boiled all day are not the best representative sample.
If you are interested in discussing, please give me a call or email.
