How Long to Boil Dry Raw Peanuts?

by John

For whatever reason, I couldn't find any raw green peanuts anywhere this year. I found raw dry peanuts at the grocery store and decided to try boiling them (4 lbs). I used 1 cup of salt in about 4-5 gallons of water. After 9 hours of boiling, they were sufficiently salty but still a little toothy. I removed them from the brine and refrigerated. I want them softer...can I boil again and how much salt?

Boil Them Until They are Soft
by: Boiled Peanut World

Boil them until they are are soft to your liking. Only then, can they absorb the flavor in the brine. It make take many hours depending on your water hardness, and your altitude. Add water to your taste when you reheat them. Taste them early, taste them often.
