I got a bag of dried raw peanuts.

I was wondering if the bag of dried raw peanuts that I received as a present would be okay to boil? If so,do I boil them for the 24 hours you stated? Other than boiling them what else can I do with them?

What to do with a bag of raw peanuts

Yes, you can boil the dried raw peanuts.

If you boil them in an open pot, or slow cooker, then cook them until they are as soft as you like. That may be about 24 hours, but tasting samples is the only way to decide when they are done to your liking. Judge doneness by the texture, not by elapsed time.

You can also roast raw peanuts. Preheat the oven to about 220 degrees F. Put a single layer of raw peanuts on a baking pan into the preheated oven. Sample them as they cook to decide when they are roasted to your liking. They will continue to cook for a while after removing them from the oven, so under cook just a bit. It should take about 20 minutes to 30 minutes. Inspect and taste samples as they cook. You will notice the roasted taste develop, and intensify as they cook. You will also notice the inner color of the peanuts darkening as they roast. Crack the peanuts in half to see the color inside the nut. Don't over cook them, or the taste becomes very strong.

Fresh roasted peanuts smell and taste wonderful, much better than store bought roasted peanuts.

You can eat peanuts raw.

You can also plant raw peanuts and grow peanut plants. Remove the goobers from the shell (leave the skin on), plant them about an inch deep in moist soil. The soil should be warm, at least 68 degrees F for several days. They are fun to watch growing, and form pretty yellow flowers after about 35 days. They like direct sun, and soil that drains well (sandy soil).
